In one of our last conversations, my Grandfather gave me these words of wisdom. I'm going to write them out now while they're still fresh in my mind. He told me he was proud of me and everything I was doing with my girls. He told me he thought it was great that I was exposing them to so many natural treasures in our country. Then, he said something that really struck me as profound. He became very solemn, and in his warm, gravelly voice, he said

Keep relishing those beautiful little girls, Ben. It all goes so fast, and before you know it, they'll be grown. It might not seem like it, and there are days that seem like they'll never end, but believe me, it doesn't feel like it when you look back.

I know that my grandfather relished the time he shared with his children deeply, and in this conversation, he said it all. Of all of the mountains my Grandfather had climbed and great things he had accomplished in his life, the time he shared with his children was by far the most precious thing he had to look back on. He missed it. He longed for it.

I'll always remember these precious words of wisdom from him. Each day is a blessing that unfolds with the opportunity to transcend the mundane. Don't let life cloud your vision - hold onto what's most important. Take time to relish your family and love them with an unfettered heart.
